Years pass and it's you I remember [Nezumi/Shion]

Time was an impossibly fickle thing and passed by without one realizing it.

The walls had come down around three years ago and the two once-separated cities came together, even if the relations weren't the best. Such had never stopped most from trying to get along and it was incredibly liberating to now get to live in such a free society. Shion felt everything had happened for the better now that it had passed, and had been working diligently as part of the restoration committee but that wasn't the only set of changes that had occurred since the fall of those once obtrusive walls.

Many figured he'd be living with his mother for a good long while, but when Shion reached the age of eighteen he'd managed to save up to get his own place. He still visited his mother on a daily basis but it was nice to have his own home to come to after a hard day of working hard, always seeming to wear a smile when he was around the other people in this new city of theirs. It was a daily occurrence but not always permanently in place as while he was primarily happy and lived his life as normally as one might be able to, there were certain things that were missing and it was on the surface of his mind almost constantly.

Shutting the door of his home quietly, Shion couldn't be happier to be home as it was quieter compared to the rest of the bustling city and vaguely resembled the home he and his mom shared back before he'd met Nezumi. Pressing a few buttons to lock the door, he slipped off his shoes and jacket at the door before heading up into the bathroom - just to grab something - and caught his appearance in the mirror in passing. His hair was getting just a little bit long, he mused, a hand coming up to twine a few white locks around a couple of fingers in a somewhat absent gesture before he took everything else in. By now he was now nineteen and had grown just a little bit taller; not a lot but it still counted, and his face had lost just a bit of what most called their 'baby fat' off his cheeks. A particular scar remained in place, never fading as a reminder of his survival back then, brushing one finger against it with his red eyes holding a bit of a distant look in them before he shook his head and moved to open one of the bathroom drawers.

Pulling out a hair tie, he left the hair framing his face but pulled the rest into a bit of a low ponytail and straightened up. Much better.

Flipping off the light switch, Shion headed back out into the living room area and exhaled a sigh as he turned on the television. News had been pretty quiet but it was a way to relax, getting drawn into it until the loud crack of thunder startled him from his daze, making those deep red hues trail over to the window in time to see that it was actually storming and blowing rain wildly outside. "...Had I really spaced out that much?" A small smile curled his lips as he pushed off from the couch and headed to one of the windows to shut it, a glance outside at his balcony giving him such a sense of nostalgia as he watched the storm rage on wildly without any preamble or care.

Nature could be scary in that sense if you really thought about it.

It took only a couple of minutes of watching the storm before an idea hit, and he threw open the double doors leading to the balcony as the wind came rushing in. Wearing a wide grin, Shion bolted out to the edge of the balcony where he put his hands on the railing and just took in the exhilarating sensation of the rain on his skin, the wind so loud and deafening in his ears as the rain began to dampen his clothes. The steel railing of the balcony's edge was so chilling and yet he couldn't resist what came next.

Along with the wind, he screamed his heart out with a wide smile on his face and not a damn care in the world. Noone would hear him now... just as he'd thought those years ago, feeling the bite of nostalgia and not having been able to fight it off.
